Quality & testing

Quality starts before the yarn is ours.

Because we buy yarn rather than spin it, the first test happens at the gate. Yarn arrives against a purchase order, is tested for count and quality, and only then is taken into stores. Everything after that is a sequence of checks with a name against each one.

Between the gate and the container

  1. Inbound

    Yarn

Count and quality tested on arrival. Goods receipt is raised only after the test passes.

  2. Greige

    Off the loom

Booked in by batch and inspected before it is issued to process.

  3. In process

    Shade

Every lot is held against the dip you approved. A lot that drifts is reprocessed, not shipped.

  4. Made-ups

    Every piece

Checked after hemming and before packing, against AQL 2.5.

  5. Outbound

    Before loading

Final inspection, polybag and carton packing, container loading against the invoice.

Tested in our own lab

Sent to an independent lab

These go out rather than staying in-house on purpose. On the results that decide whether a programme ships, your technical team should not have to take our word for it.

Colourfastness to sea and pool water

Whether the colour holds against salt water and chlorine. Beach towels and hotel pool towels live in both.

Tensile strength

The force the cloth takes before it tears. It matters most for hospitality towels that go through industrial laundries year after year.

Fibre content

What the towel is made of, measured rather than declared. For organic, Egyptian or blended programmes, it is the evidence behind the label.

Lint loss

How much fibre a towel sheds in its first washes — what a customer finds in the dryer filter.

Weight loss

How much weight a towel loses through laundering, which is pile being lost. A towel that thins with every wash is the complaint this test prevents.
